Mechanical tilting decanting basket for wine and Port, high-quality vintage reissue of the famous English model from the late 19th century.
Oval base in solid mahogany with original non-slip feet, structure with turned baluster columns in silvered metal, bottle cradle and crank with wooden knob. The worm gear mechanism allows millimetric tilting of the bottle without disturbing the sediment, essential for Vintage Port and aged reds.
Era: original design 1890-1910; this specimen produced between 1970 and 1985, produced in the style of Wiskemann / England on a Victorian model.
Materials: solid mahogany, silver-plated metal, wood and rubber.
Dimensions: height 35 cm, width 20.5 cm, depth 35 cm; total weight about 1.6 kg.
Conditions: Very good. Item hand-cleaned by the current owner, any darkening removed while deliberately leaving a light patina of age. High-quality silver plating, thick and intact, with no exposed metal and no deep tarnishes. Smooth and fully functional mechanism. Mahogany base with normal signs of use consistent with age, concentrated on the underside not visible.
No breaks, no repairs. Unstamped, as typical for this production.
