Bottle - .800 silver, glass - Hanauer Silber

Museum-quality antique silver and glass pilgrim bottle with a sailing-ship mount (Nef) – 800 solid silver, partly gilded (Vermeil) – Historicism circa 1890/1900.

Exquisite and museum-grade antique Prunk-Pilgerflasche from the Historicism period (circa 1890–1900). This exceptional collectible captivates with the masterful and rare combination of amber-colored glass and a richly adorned mount made of genuine 800 solid silver with noble, original full gilding (Vermeil).

The centerpiece is stylistically attributed to the famous and world-renowned Hanau silverware, and was crafted by a renowned Hanau silver manufactory in excellent handwork.

A special highlight is the fully three-dimensional mount shaped as a three-masted sailing ship (Nef) atop a wave-like decorative base, perched on the upper rim of the bottle. The completely gilded silver mount is openwork all around in a magnificent Renaissance style and intricately chiseled. It displays fine figurative scenes, including detailed buildings, windmills and landscapes. The amber-glass body features an artistic, continuous acid-etch with floral motifs as well as fine landscape, windmill and church-tower scenes. The original, also gilded silver stopper blends seamlessly with its delicate cord and pearl decoration into the overall splendid appearance.

The silver on the neck is properly stamped with the fineness mark “800”, the German Reich mark, and the model number “205.” Dimensions are approximately 23 cm in height and 19 cm in width, with a substantial total weight of 1003 grams.

On the fine rigging of the sailing ship, some of the thin silver wires (cordage) are missing due to age, which is common for pieces of this age. The original gilding is partly minimally worn, which charmfully underscores the antique character of this Prunkstück. The glass is undamaged, clear, and shows a splendid hue.
