Kem Kem Beds fossils lot of 22 natural specimens from the Cenomanian of Morocco, comprising Spinosaurid, Fish, Shark, Ray and Crocodile teeth, including two Otodus teeth, two Sand Tiger shark teeth, a crocodyliform tooth, Onchopristis rostral denticles and a vertebral element, all offered as one authentic Original lot.
Description from the seller
The lot contains a diverse selection of teeth, dental fragments and other remains representing several groups that inhabited the river systems and surrounding environments of the Kem Kem ecosystem.
The assemblage includes:
Several indeterminate fish fossil fragments and fish teeth
Crocodyliform tooth
Spinosaurid teeth and tooth fragments
Squalicorax shark tooth
Fossil ray dental element
2 Otodus teeth
2 shark teeth attributed to Sand Tiger
1 tooth attributed to Odontaspis
3 Onchopristis rostral denticles
2 fragments of Onchopristis rostral denticles
1 fossil vertebral element, attributed to the same Kem Kem fish assemblage
Additional small fossil fragments visible in the photographs
Particularly interesting are the remains of Onchopristis, the large extinct sclerorhynchid ray characteristic of the Kem Kem fauna, together with teeth representing predatory fishes, sharks, crocodyliforms and spinosaurids.
The collection provides a good overview of the remarkable diversity of vertebrates that occupied the ancient river systems of northern Africa during the Cenomanian.
All specimens are offered together as one lot. Some pieces are fragmentary, as expected for naturally preserved material from this locality. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
Origin: Kem Kem Beds, southeastern Morocco
Period: Late Cretaceous – Cenomanian
Age: approximately 100–94 million years
Condition: Natural fossil specimens, with varying degrees of preservation and fragmentation.
