Art Deco vase ‘Anthar’ by Belgian glass and crystal maker Val Saint Lambert, designed in 1922 by Joseph Simon and made in Topaze-coloured crystal, about 28 cm high with a 20 cm diameter, in very good condition with minor signs of age on the base and unmarked.

Art Deco vase ‘Anthar’ from the Belgian glass and crystal factory Val Saint Lambert.
The model ‘Anthar’ was created in 1922 by Joseph Simon and is executed in Topaz-colored crystal. Topaz is one of the three VSL colors (alongside Blue Pompéi and Améthyste) that were used exclusively during the Art Deco period.
The vase is in very good condition with age-appropriate wear on the underside. No chips or flea bites. High-quality crystal with a high lead content. VSL crystal is recognizable by the clarity of the glass and the weight of the pieces.
Unmarked, as are all VSL products of this age, but clearly recognizable by shape, quality, weight and color. The vase is pictured on page 265 of Michèle Thiry's book: De L’Art Deco aux Annees 50, Le verre et le cristal belges dans le monde, Rotary Club, 1987 (see illustrations).
