Description from the seller
RITUAL CONCH WITH ITS TRIPOD
The conch of the lower swollen part, whose ends end in fish tails with deeply reliefed banded pearl decorations and superimposed floral motifs, rests on a tripod stand with a nagas head. It is adorned, on its upper triangular part, with a relief representing the dancing god Hevajra. These ritual bronze conches, like natural conches, served either as ceremonial vessels and implements for ritual lustrations, or as wind instruments allowing the sacred sound OM to be emitted. This conch, having no opening at its end, obviously served the first function. This type of conch particularly served as a “vase” to pour the lustral waters during tantric Buddhist ceremonies especially in vogue under Jayavarman VII, cf, in the section "Tantric Art" of Glory...
A similar conch is depicted at the Phnom Penh Museum, catalogued under number 149 in The Collections of the National Museum of Phnom Penh.
