Description from the seller
Rare Pair of Raak Amsterdam “Zonnewende” C-1705 Wall Lamps by J.W. Bosman, 1960s – In excellent condition – No reserve.
A rare matching pair of Raak Amsterdam “Zonnewende” wall lamps, designed by J.W. Bosman for Raak in the 1960s.
These striking Dutch Space Age wall lights feature the characteristic bronze-coloured cylindrical metal housings combined with spectacular heavily textured clear crystal-glass shades. The glass is covered with irregular rounded reliefs which create a beautiful sparkling effect when illuminated.
Both lamps retain their original Raak Amsterdam labels, including the C-1705 designation. They are part of the same design family as the C-1705 lamp from the same collection.
The combination of warm bronze-coloured metal and highly textured crystal glass is quintessentially Dutch Mid-Century Modern / Space Age design. The sculptural construction and unusual glass make these lamps particularly attractive to collectors of original Raak lighting.
Offered as a matching pair, making them ideal for placement on either side of a mirror, artwork, bed, doorway or architectural feature.
A rare and highly decorative set with genuine high-end quality, original details and excellent collector appeal.
