Unique handmade marble run – wood, copper and multiple tracks

Very large and fully handmade marble run, built from wood/plywood and hand-bent copper wire. The construction features multiple tracks, handmade switches and different route choices. The track can be used on both sides and has three starting points.

With dimensions of about 63 cm wide, 39 cm deep and 85 cm high it is a strikingly large object. Due to the different routes and handmade parts there is a lot to discover and the operation is fascinating to watch.

The construction and the many handmade and soldered components indicate a very labor-intensive personal project. The track is, as far as known, a unique specimen.

The exact age, maker and original provenance are unknown. There is nowhere a brand, signature, initials or serial number found.

The current owner acquired the marble run via Marktplaats in the Netherlands. According to the previous owner it had already been in his possession for at least 15 years. Before that he had bought the run from someone who collected old instruments.

Condition: used condition. Here and there over time a solder joint has come loose. One track currently does not function fully; the other tracks function in principle. The detached connections are visible and can be relatively easily repaired. It was deliberately chosen not to repair them, so that the current state of the object is preserved.

Around 65 marbles are supplied as well. These are not all suitable for the track; only a few fit the size well. A glass cat’s-eye of about 16.4 mm rolls optimally through the construction.
