Today at the auction I have the pleasure of presenting to you

The legendary vase “Ovalis” (model 3036), designed by the eminent Finnish designer and sculptor Tapio Wirkkala.

The project was created in 1958 for the famous Iittala manufactory in Finland. The vase is an excellent example of Scandinavian modernism.

It was made using the layered glass technique (cased glass) – the inner layer is opaque white opal glass, which on the outside is surrounded by a thick, perfectly smooth, transparent layer of crystal glass.
