Thuringian porcelain – Rare 15-piece tea service (6 persons) with bird decoration (Vogelmuster) & gold – Germany (ca. 1775–1800)
and exceptionally complete and early 18th-century Thuringian porcelain tea service, produced in the last quarter of the 18th century (ca. 1775–1800, around Limbach / Wallendorf / Gera).
The service is executed in underglaze cobalt blue and richly gilded with overglaze gold (gold gilding). The ensemble showcases the classic and coveted Thuringian Vogelmuster: a stylized bird perched on a flowering branch, surrounded by floral motifs and finished with the characteristic scalloped arch border (Arkadenbordüre).
The cups are fitted with the distinctive C-shaped Rococo handles with a thumb rest (Ohrenhenkel mit Daumenrast). Subtle, as is common for many early Thuringian tea services from this period. That such a 15-piece service remains, after more than 225 years, in this complete and largely undamaged condition is a rarity.

The ensemble is in remarkably good, authentic condition.
Lids (teapot & sugar pot): Both lids are entirely intact. Knobs and rims are free of chips, cracks, or hairlines.
Teapot: Entirely intact. Spout and handle are free from damage.
Milk jug: Entirely intact. Spout and handle undamaged.
Sugar pot: Featuring a fine, crossed hairline in the wall (not through-and-through). No rim chips.
Cups (6): All 6 cups are completely intact; all delicate Rococo handles with thumb rests are intact.
Saucers (6): 5 saucers are completely intact. 1 saucer shows one very fine, superficial hairline.
Gilding: The overglaze gold is very well preserved with only minute, age-appropriate wear.
