A 1927 Eichbaum coin from the Weimar Republic, minted by Staatliche Münze Berlin, in 50% silver (500er Silber) with a net silver content of 12.5 g, 36 mm in diameter and about 3 mm thick, weighing 25 g in total, featuring the Eichbaum motif and the inscription EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT.
Description from the seller
The Eichbaum: In the 18th and 19th centuries, the oak developed into a symbol of German strength, durability and steadfastness.
The withered branches: If you look closely at the foliage, on the right and left sides a few more barren, leafless twig ends stand out. This was a deliberate political symbolism by the artist Prof. Maximilian Dasio. They stand for the German territories that had to be ceded after World War I according to the Treaty of Versailles.
The mint: The small “A” at the very bottom under the roots reveals that this coin was minted at the Berlin State Mint.
The inscription: The text “EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT” frames the motif – the line that today is known as the opening of the German national anthem.
Material: 500 fineness silver (silver content: 50% silver, 50% copper)
Fine weight: 12.5 grams of pure silver
Diameter: 36.0 mm
Thickness: approx. 3.0 mm
