Onnaing Dhalia barbotine pitcher, Art Nouveau, dating circa 1850–1900, polychrome glazed earthenware.
Description from the seller
Superb barbotine pitcher from Onnaing (Nord), Dahlia/Chrysanthemum model with relief decoration, circa 1890-1900.
Fine glazed polychrome earthenware, twisted yellow handle shaped like a branch, body with olive green ground and relief decoration of large violet and pink flowers, water-green leaves, interior glazed bright pink, very well preserved, rare in this condition.
Height: about 19.5 cm. Neck diameter: 10 cm. Floor-standing vase diameter 12.5 cm, base diameter 9 cm.
Condition: Very good overall. No cracks, no restoration. Slight glaze wear at the spout and normal for the period, visible in photos. Interior clean.
Mark on the reverse: Frte Onnaing, made in France, number 790, attributed by the pattern and the paste to Onnaing, Faïencerie d’Onnaing (1843-1938).
A collectible piece sought after by lovers of French majolicas from the 19th century. Very decorative pattern and vivid colors.
