From France, a XIXth‑century lot of 32 letters and stamped envelopes Napoléon III & Cérès – Correspondances, in postal use condition.
Description from the seller
Important set of 32 French letters and envelopes from the 19th century, mainly from the Second Empire period / early Third Republic.
Many Napoléon III and Cérès frankings, mainly in blue, with various numeric cancellations, date stamps, merchant stamps and postal marks.
Part of the folds retains its original correspondence, with several interesting commercial, banking and industrial documents.
Among the most notable items:
Correspondence of Crédit Agricole;
documents from banks and collection houses, including Offroy, Fouchet & Co.;
commercial documents and old invoices;
splendid illustrated invoice from Karcher Frères – Ribbon Manufacture in Colmar, with an engraved representation of the factory;
documents related to industrial establishments, merchants and trading houses;
letters with commercial stamps, transit stamps and various French destinations.
A fine collection bringing together philately, postal history and French 19th-century economic history.
Condition varies with the age of the documents: folds, foxing, small tears, flaws and signs of handling possible.
