Venini Monofiore Balloton vase in Murano glass, designed by Venini Studio for Paolo Venini, Italy, dating to 1960–1970, in excellent condition with a Ø 21.5 cm and H 24.5 cm form, weighing 1.3 kg, featuring a spherical body with a short flared neck, transparent amber glass with a horizon blue lip and the balloton quilted surface, signed and labeled with model ref. 100.29.
Description from the seller
Monofiore Balloton vase by Venini, Murano, in the largest of the five catalogue sizes (ref. 100.29, Ø 21.5 × H 24.5 cm). Spherical body drawn into a short flared neck, in transparent amber glass closed by a fine horizon blue thread applied hot at the lip, the two tone contrast that defines the model.
The surface carries the balloton decoration: a graduated diamond quilt relief that makes the glass read as soft, quilted fabric. Blown and finished entirely by hand, so pattern and colour density vary slightly from piece to piece.
The shape dates to 1970 and remains one of Venini's icons, still produced by the furnace in limited colour series. Signed with the diamond-point engraving on the underside and retaining the original round "Venini Murano — Made in Italy" label on the body. Supplied with the original Venini booklet.
