J. Caminada Amsterdam – Antique fireproof money safe / safe with original keys – ca. 1900

Very fine and exceptionally heavy fireproof money safe from J. Caminada Amsterdam, a well-known Dutch manufacturer of safes, fireproof safes, and money safes from the late 19th and early 20th century.

This imposing money safe is made of solid iron and equipped with a fireproof inner construction. On the lid there is the original factory plate inscribed with "J. Caminada, Kloveniersburgwal 58, Amsterdam", clearly documenting the provenance of this piece.

The safe comes with the original keys and a working locking mechanism. The lid closes firmly and inside features a solid locking system. There are heavy recessed carrying handles on both sides. The front is richly decorated with a cast ornamental motif in neorenaissance style, making this chest not only functional but also particularly decorative.

The original fireproof inner tray is still present and finished in a contrasting yellow color. The combination of the handsome decoration, the complete construction, and the documented provenance makes this an attractive collectible for enthusiasts of antique safes, industrial heritage, and historical office furnishing.

Condition: Good antique condition with signs of use appropriate to the age. The lock functions properly and the original keys are present. The paint shows light wear and patina, which is fitting for an object over a hundred years old. The photos are an integral part of the description.
