Description
Homogeneous lot of three cantilever chairs of the famous “Cesca” model, designed by Marcel Breuer and produced in Italy by Gavina. The chrome tubular frame supports the seat and back with a black frame and Vienna straw weave. The combination of continuous metal structure, essential geometry, and natural weave constitutes one of the most recognizable languages of 20th-century modernist design.

Elements of authenticity and collectible interest
The lot presents an element particularly important for the market: all three chairs retain the label “GAVINA MODEL – made in Italy – reg. trade mark KIGA s.p.a.”. The concordant presence of the markings on the three specimens, together with constructional coherence and the original weaving, makes the lot decidedly more interesting than pieces lacking a label or later reproductions. The inscription KIGA is consistent with Gavina’s Italian production in the phase after the late sixties.

State of conservation
Overall excellent conditions. The weavings show little use, still elastic, well tensioned, and fully supportive, with no deformations, splaying, or bending. There is only a slight natural darkening of the wicker, compatible with age. The chroming is very well preserved and bright, with some normal signs of use and aging; the black frames show only very slight traces compatible with very limited use. The whole retains a homogeneous, solid appearance and excellent visual quality.
