Monumental iron-banded chest with hand-painted panels, wrought-iron fittings and an openworked inner panel – 18th century

Impressive antique wooden chest equipped with heavy wrought-iron fittings, decorative rivets and hand-painted panels with floral motifs.

The chest stands out for its exceptionally rich execution. The exterior features a geometric pattern of iron bands with green-painted panels between them, bearing decorative flowers and tulips. On the front there is a central escutcheon, flanked by heavy wrought-iron clasps and carrying rings.

Particularly notable is the openworked metal panel on the inside of the lid. This richly worked panel shows floral ornaments and bird motifs and forms a striking decorative element that is rarely found on comparable chests.

The chest has heavy wrought-iron carrying handles on both sides. Various old padlocks and keys are included. The interior is finished in a warm red-orange color and presents a handsome authentic appearance.

Due to the combination of size, decoration, craftsmanship and original components, this is a special collectible for lovers of antique chests, folk art, metalwork and historic interiors.

Condition
Good antique condition with signs of wear and age appropriate to its age and use. Wear, oxidation, paint losses and signs of use contribute to the authentic character. Various old locks and keys present. The key to the lid lock is not present. The photos form an integral part of the description.
