Extraordinary collectible sculptural chalice in genuine Murano glass, entirely handmade and inscribed with diamond-point at the bottom "A. Boscolo" by the famous Venetian master Andrea Boscolo around 1998. The author, who died prematurely in 2009, is recognized in the island’s glassmaking history for being an exceptional innovator and modern pioneer in lampworking and hot-working techniques applied to complex and virtuosic works.
This chalice is a showroom masterpiece, a true work of art demonstrating an unusual level of technical mastery.
The upper cup (drinker) and the resting foot reveal a refinement inner decoration with color inclusions in a chemical reaction, creating evocative color gradations in shades of green, aquamarine, and burnt brown. The central stem is a triumph of hot shaping, composed of geometrically contoured elements including ribbed spheres and modules dotted in yellow and red. Towards the end of the stem an outstanding figurative element applied hot stands out: a multicolored glass fish in blue, yellow, and red, explicitly recalling the rich marine fauna of the Venetian lagoon.
