Pair of Art Nouveau plateel vases from N.V. Arnhemsche Fayencefabriek, Arnhem, Netherlands, in the characteristic Arnhems white glaze, model 287, designed by Klaas Vet and Dirk Straus, signed DZ, each about 30 cm high and 10 cm wide and deep, in good condition with minor signs of age and staining.
Description from the seller
A splendid and rare matching pair (pendant) Delftware vases from the highly regarded N.V. Arnhemsche Fayencefabriek (Arnhem, Netherlands).
These imposing vases, measuring no less than 30 cm tall, are executed in the characteristic and highly sought-after 'Arnhems white' with a semi-matte glaze.
These vases (model number 287) have an elegant, slender trumpet form that flares wide to the foot. The refined, linear Jugendstil/Art Nouveau decoration consists of a beautifully stylized purple-white carnation, captured in tight, organic frames of deep green and ochre-gold lines. A splendid example of Dutch Delftware heritage from the early 20th century.
Designed by Klaas Vet and Dirk Straus with stylized linear decoration. This model was also briefly produced in Purmerend, where the Vet brothers had a production facility.
Well signed with model number 287 and painter’s signature DZ.
Vase 1: Completely intact and undamaged. No chips, no hairlines, and absolutely not restored.
Vase 2: Also in beautiful optical condition. The upper rim of this vase has, in the past, been professionally and invisibly restored.
