Pair of brass bronze candlesticks with a gilt bronze and brown patina finish, mounted on a red griotte marble square base, attributed to André-Antoine Ravrio, dating to the Consulate–Empire period (ca. 1800–1810) and in good condition with age-related wear.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Pair of candlesticks in gilded chased bronze and patinated brown bronze, resting on a cherry red marble base.
Two winged putti, in a contrapposto pose, as if advancing, hold in each raised hand a torch forming a flare whose nozzle simulates a flame.
A light veil slipped between their wings descends along their hip to conceal their lower body/genitals.
Beautiful cylindrical cherry red marble base set with a wide ring in gilded chased bronze, finely beaded, resting on a square base also gilded.
Model by the bronzier André-Antoine Ravrio (1759-1814)

Consulate-Empire period, between 1800-1810

Good condition, original mercury gilding, charming aging of the original brown patina. A minor marble flaw on one base.
Photos taken in natural light.
