AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Art Nouveau glass paste little sculpture (ashtray) by Almaric Walter
Rarely offered, with lizards/salamanders
Signed: A Walter Nancy Berge SC
In good condition with light signs of use
Diameter 11.5 cm
Country: France

Walter started at Daum where his designs were always signed Daum Nancy.

After the war he decided to establish his own glass workshop in Nancy, on Rue Claudot. He continued his collaboration with Henri Bergé. From 1919 to 1935 he, together with Bergé and other famous sculptors and designers, cast no fewer than 500 models, always in small editions due to the advanced technique of casting in a glass furnace. It is said that if he was not satisfied with pieces that came out of the furnace, he would throw them against the outer wall of his workshop, because he claimed to be a true perfectionist. His staff was small (maximum 8-10 employees).
