Baccarat “Draperies” Crystal Decanter, First Half of the 19th Century.
An exceptional early Baccarat crystal decanter in the rare “Draperies” pattern, dating from the first half of the 19th century.
The elegant elongated body is richly decorated with deep cascading swags arranged in vertical panels, evoking the folds of luxurious draped fabric. The sculptural decoration creates remarkable depth and brilliance, beautifully catching and refracting the light. A slender fluted neck and an impressive faceted teardrop-shaped stopper complete the refined architectural silhouette.
Produced during the early, pre-signature period of Baccarat manufacture, this decanter is a particularly fine example of French crystal craftsmanship from the first half of the 19th century.
Excellent antique condition for its considerable age, with only a very small microchip to the rim of the neck and light traces of time consistent with careful use. The microchip is discreet and does not detract from the beauty or integrity of the piece. No cracks or other significant damage are visible.
