Description from the seller
Ancient Chinese white-and-blue export porcelain plate, dating to the late 19th century or early 20th century (Late Qing Dynasty). In the center it features a distinctive stylized depiction of a fish (carp) with scales worked in a reticulate pattern. On the back the period’s maker’s mark is clearly visible, hand-painted in cobalt blue.
It presents the typical era firing flaws (small black specks and glaze porosity) and slight wear on the unglazed edge of the base (foot), elements that confirm its age and handcrafted manufacture; additionally there is a small filament/mark along the edge visible in the photo.
The plate features an antique wall mount made of twisted wrought iron from the period. The mount is fixed and has not been removed to preserve the object's integrity and prevent chipping on the edge.
It has a diameter of 24.5 cm, a height (including the mount) of 5.5 cm, and an approximate weight of 1 kg.
