Jug - 18th century Lille pitcher - Earthenware - Jacqueline

A magnificent anthropomorphic polychromed faience "Jacqueline" pitcher, measuring circa 26cm in height and weighing 1281g, wth pewter hinged lid attachment. The figure depicts a seated woman on a grassy knoll, wearing a polka dot apron over floral dress and scarf, her hands resting on her lap.
Such tin-glazed earthenware pitchers were made in Lille in the 18th century, often as a pair of male and female figures known as Jacquot & Jacqueline.
