Two wall sconces in bronze and crystal, made in France and dating from 1930–1940, each 26 cm tall and 15 cm wide with a 26 cm depth, in good used condition and in working order.
Description from the seller
They are two wall sconces that preserve that warm, ornamental elegance so characteristic of the first half of the 20th century, when the taste for vegetal shapes and worked metals remained very much alive in domestic lighting. The golden bronze that structures each piece shows careful modeling, with leaves that unfold into soft scrolls, almost as if in motion. It is not a garish gold: it has that slightly aged hue that adds depth and a more noble presence.
The crystal lampshades in the shape of flowers complete the naturalistic language of the set. The glass, worked with a delicate frosted finish, opens like a thick petal that diffuses the light softly. That floral form, so typical of the 1920s–40s, adds an intimate and artisanal touch, as if each shade had been designed to dialogue with the metal leaves that support it.
The balance between the bronze —solid, warm, with its restrained shine— and the crystal —light, translucent, evocative— creates a visual play very typical of the era. They are sconces that illuminate, yes, but also decorate: pieces designed to accompany classic interiors, with a taste for the organic and for metal craftsmanship.
Certified shipping and good packaging.
