Description from the seller
Massive-bronze Buddha Śākyamuni sculpture
Bronze statue with a remarkable presence and visual allure, originating from my grandfather’s house where it has remained safeguarded for a long time. The sculpture stands out for stylistic elements and manufacturing details of great interest to oriental art collectors.
With a height of about 25.5 cm, the object has an extremely substantial weight of 2.040 kg, revealing a solid metal casting, thick and of notable quality. The face of the Buddha is modeled with an intense, deep expression, while the borders of the robe feature meticulous decorative geometric engravings that enrich its profile.
The structure is hollow and originally designed to receive the offerings of the consecration rituals, with the base open on the bottom. Turning the sculpture around, the interior shows rough metal walls bearing the typical marks of artisanal casting and dense natural oxidation, with a pronounced green-blue patina layered by time. The object presents itself exactly in its original found state, without any cleaning intervention, preserving intact the surface and the authentic coloration of the bronze that has developed over the years.
