We present an elegant antique Chinese rug, made between 1950 and 1960, with a refined floral Aubusson-inspired design.
The rug is woven using an ancient manual tufting technique, in which the wool tufts are worked by hand on a cotton base. On the back, the structure is stabilized with a traditional fixing compound that keeps the tufts in place, and finally protected by a textile lining.
The pile is worked and cut by hand, creating the beautiful raised texture characteristic of this type of rug. It features a very elegant decoration, with a large central floral medallion and numerous flower and leaf motifs, combined in soft tones of green, beige, pink, and brown.
