Tray - 24kt gold

A particularly elegant and rare antique Karlsbader porcelain tray from the 1920s, manufactured by DW Porzellan under the prestigious quality line Karlsbader Wertarbeit. Originating from the famous porcelain region Karlsbad (the present-day Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic), at the time world-renowned for producing the finest porcelain of exceptional quality.

Origin: Made by DW Porzellan Manufaktur, connected to Karlsbad – the present-day Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic.
Material: Fine white porcelain with a light blue ground and an elaborate decoration in fine gold.
Presentation: Central scene features a romantically dressed couple by a swing, surrounded by trees and floral ornaments.
Decoration: Equipped with fine gold filigree, graceful floral borders and a broad gold outer rim with a continuous depiction of figures, animals and carriages.
Marks: Rear side marked with the crowned factory mark “DW Porzellan – Karlsbader Wertarbeit – Gegr. 1921” and the text “Fine porcelaine incrustée à l’or fin”. Also signed “A. Duy”.
Dating and maker: To be dated after the factory’s founding in 1921, presumably the second quarter of the 20th century. A. Duy was presumably responsible for the hand decoration or gold finish.
