Italian Art Deco multifunctional desk set with an alabaster base, bronze and crystal elements, and an integrated reading lamp, in good condition with minor signs of age and stains; height 43 cm, width 24.5 cm, depth 17.5 cm.
Description from the seller
Splendid and rare multifunctional antique desk set, original from the Art Déco period, dating to the first half of the 20th century (approximately 1920-1930).
This refined antique piece combines in a single structural element the functionality of writing instruments and the usefulness of a directed reading lamp.
The structure rests on an elegant rectangular marble veined base (or onyx) in warm amber and honey tones.
The slab is firmly mounted on supporting feet and lower metal brun-out structural reinforcements, fixed with original period bolts and nuts, visible on the bottom of the piece as evidence of its authenticity.
The desk set is composed of: Integrated lamp: On the left a metallic stem rises with geometric and squared lines, typical of the period Déco's rigorous design.
It is topped by a shade of patterned paper and antique pinkish trim that ensures a warm, soft light.
An original solid transparent crystal container with faceted craftsmanship, complete with a metal lid with a zipper closure.
Integrated supports on the base to hold a dipping nib from the era, with a wooden grip and black Bakelite.
The electrical installation is functional and bears witness to maintenance and updates carried out in the mid-20th century (circa the 1950s) to ensure safe use, while preserving a wonderful vintage component that maintains its charm.
Flexible power cord clad in brown fabric braid.
Vintage push-button rotary switch in black Bakelite, white era-era flat plug.
Lamp holder with a top ceramic white insulating ring.
The object is in good overall aesthetic condition, fully consistent with its age and use. The metals show a magnificent patina of time that certifies its authenticity and period.
The stone base has no significant damage.
As with all antique electrical devices, a technical check before daily and prolonged use is recommended.
