One non-certified 1940 World War II era Dutch spionagemunt: a square cupronickel coin with an embedded half-cent and a milled stuiver, weighing 4.87 g in total.
Description from the seller
A cupro-nickel square stiver with an inset half-cent, made during the German occupation under Queen Wilhelmina.
In our opinion, this coin was used as a spy coin, a nice James Bond–like hiding place to pass secret messages. Under the half-cent, a paper with information could fit, and the half-cent on the outside makes it look like an ordinary stiver.

Other numismatists see this as a so-called Seyss-Inquart (sarcastic 6 and a quarter cent) with an “ashtray cover” on which the hook was taken for this Nazi; the ashtray cover was made from a nickel-stub stiver with a cent attached and a mid-split ½ cent as a finger grip. Here the total is only 5.5 cents, so I also doubt its relevance.
also called Identification of resistance fighters, one had the cent and the other the inscribed stiver. At a meeting the cent had to fit inside the stiver so they could be sure they were both from the resistance. Anyone can carry a half cent and not reveal anything, either.
A curious and interesting piece of numismatics tied to history—make up your own mind :-)
Material: Cu-Ni and bronze
Weight: 4.87 g (square stiver 3.65 g and half-cent 1.22 g)
