Ottoman Empire.
Murad II (1421–1444, 1446–1451 AD).
Akçe (Silver, 13 mm, 1.03 g).
Obv: Obv: مراد بن محمد خان [date]. “Murad, son of Mehmed Khan, [date].” Name, date and arrangement vary between series.
Rev: Rev: خلد ملكه / ضرب [mint]. “May [Allah] perpetuate his kingdom / Struck at [mint].”

Murad II restored Ottoman power after a period of dynastic instability and strengthened control across Anatolia and the Balkans. His reign was marked by prolonged wars with Hungary, Venice and other Balkan powers, including the Ottoman victory at Varna in 1444. After briefly abdicating, he returned to the throne and secured further victories, preparing the empire for the conquests of his son Mehmed II.
