Decorative ornament - Italy - Neoclassical Style, 1880

Decorative ornament in Neoclassical / Louis XIV style dated to the last twenty years of the 19th century.

The crest features garlands of flowers and leaves in swags, drapes, moldings with ovals and darts that echo classical architecture.

It is made of gilded walnut wood, with the original patina – the signs of time are visible with the red bole – refreshed with shellac diluted to 30% in recent months. The crest was the object of conservative restoration in July, with two termite treatments and hermetic sealing for 30 days. The termite holes were closed with shellac and carnauba wax.

The frieze is equipped with hooks to be attached to the wall, above a bed or a console. A unique piece for decorating elegant, history-rich interiors.
