The Marcuso table was born in 1969 as the result of an ideal mix between research and innovation. In fact, for the first time in making a table, an advanced technique from the automotive industry was employed: fixing crystal and stainless steel.
With Marcuso a real revolution occurs. Zanuso reduces the object to its essential forms — circle, square, and rectangle — and develops an innovative technology to achieve direct welding between crystal and steel. From this research originates the famous stainless steel base disk, a threaded disk glued to the crystal top with a special polymerized adhesive, onto which the cylindrical steel legs are screwed. A simple and brilliant solution at the same time: it enables an invisible and solid union between the materials, guarantees total disassembly, and brilliantly solves packaging and distribution problems.
Defined as “conceived and realized as a modern building,” the Marcuso table expresses the height of creativity and engineering applied to Italian industrial design. Its balance between a squared top and rounded legs makes it a timeless icon and one of the most recognizable and representative pieces of Zanotta design and Made in Italy.
