Italy, model: three damask double bedcovers, measuring 210 cm by 240 cm and available in antique gold, red and pink, in good used condition with minor signs of age and stains.
Description from the seller
A lot consisting of three damask coordinated double quilts, united by their type and the elaborate finishes with trimmings and fringes, but different in design and workmanship.
The three quilts are in antique gold, deep red/Pompeian red, and deep pink/fuchsia.
The antique gold quilt bears the woven inscription “DAMASCO A MANO – SAN LEUCIO.”
The red quilt bears the inscription “SAN LEUCIO.”
The pink/fuchsia quilt, different from the others in design and workmanship, bears the woven inscription “INCANTO VENEZIANO.”
According to family tradition, the three quilts were purchased by the grandparents in Venice during their honeymoon trip, presumably in the 1920s.
There are no documents available to confirm dating, place of purchase, or manufacture; such information is therefore reported solely as family tradition.
The quilts are overall in good condition. The antique gold quilt has two tiny stains, while the pink/fuchsia one has a small stain. The red quilt has no obvious stains.
They were washed at a laundry about a year ago; it is not known what specific treatment was performed.
The woven inscriptions and the characteristics of the lot are reported as descriptive elements and do not constitute a definite attribution of manufacture or dating.
