Exceptionally rare and complete antique mechanical butter churn (butter churner) from the early 20th century (ca. 1900-1920), marked "Holland" in an elegant calligraphic font.

This lot is a true collector’s piece. While most historic churns with a cast-iron gear mechanism are equipped with a wooden tub or glass jar, this premium example features a heavy, white-glazed porcelain/ceramic pot.

The most unique and rare detail is the internal mechanism: the lower churn paddle/wheel is also entirely manufactured from heavily glazed porcelain with a fine ribbed texture, designed to churn cream efficiently into butter. Around the interior of the pot there are diagonal grooves to optimize friction during rotation.

The whole unit is powered by a robust cast-iron gear system with a wooden handle. The two-piece wooden lid fits the pot perfectly.

Rarity & Condition:
Churns with a porcelain interior and tub are exceedingly rare, as this type of fragile kitchenware has seldom survived intact over the past century. This specimen is in remarkably pristine, original condition with only very light, authentic age- and use-related patina on the wood and iron that enhance its character. Mechanically, the wheel turns smoothly.

This lot is a true collector's item. While most historical churns with cast-iron gear mechanisms featured wooden tubs or glass jars, this premium model boasts a heavy, white-glazed porcelain/stoneware crock.

The most unique and rare feature is the internal mechanism: the lower churn paddle/wheel is also entirely made of heavy glazed porcelain with a finely ribbed surface, engineered to efficiently churn cream into butter. The inner wall of the ceramic tub features hand-worked diagonal grooves to optimize friction during operation.

Driven by a robust cast-iron gear mechanism with a wooden crank handle, and fitted with its original two-piece wooden lid.

Rarity & Condition:
Butter churns featuring a porcelain/ceramic paddle and tub are extremely scarce, as fragile ceramic kitchenware of this age rarely survived intact. This piece is in remarkably excellent condition with no major chips or cracks to the ceramic components, showing only light, authentic patina on the ironwork and wooden lid appropriate for its age. The mechanical gear mechanism turns smoothly.
