Historical-Cultural References and Manufacture
The "Tique" line represents one of the most typical examples of Studio Pottery applied to mass production in West Germany (West German Pottery).
Ceramano Kunstkeramik was founded in 1959 in Höhr-Grenzhausen by Jakob Schwaderlapp (already founder of Jasba) with the precise intention of producing high-quality art ceramics and stoneware that would differ from the mass production of the era, mimicking the characteristics of a one-off studio piece.
The design is by Gerda Heuckeroth, one of the most authoritative names in German art ceramics of the late twentieth century.
Heuckeroth, who collaborated with Ceramano between the 1960s and early 1970s before opening her own independent studio, conceived for the "Tique" series a perfect synthesis between the sturdiness of Renish stoneware and the geometric rigor of Mid-Century Modernism.
The manual application of the pigment oxide guarantees that each piece presents unique variations in the intensity and shade of the decoration.
Conservation and Marking
The pieces are in vintage condition overall good, solid, and structurally intact.
Being vintage items used, the following signs of wear and manufacturing details are noted, fully documented in the photo set:
The four saucers show small, superficial chippings along the rim profile.
The jug/carafe shows a minimal glaze loss/chip at the tip of the spout.
The two large bowls internally display a widespread and natural glaze craquelé network due to the material’s natural tensions over time, and one specimen has a small mineral overheating spot on the outer wall.
The bases bear the correct original blue factory mark ("Ceramano W.-Germany") associated with the respective model numbers impressed or inscribed.
