Replacing the 405, the Peugeot 406 was introduced in 1995 and enjoyed a huge boost in popularity thanks to the Taxi film in 1998. Designed in partnership with the Italian company Pininfarina (Ferrari Testarossa, Ferrari 308, Lancia 037, …), this coupé captivated the automotive world. It’s an opportunity to rekindle the tradition of Coupés that had been Lost since 1983. A proof that Peugeot was doing much better in this 1990s decade. Despite some criticism of its lack of sportiness, orders were pouring in and the 406 Coupé was ultimately produced in over 107,000 units throughout its career, which ended in 2004.
