Antique Wedgwood Hand-Painted Lily of the Valley Low Comport / Tazza, c. 1878–1899

A fine antique Wedgwood hand-painted Lily of the Valley low comport or tazza, dating to approximately 1878–1899.

The tazza is beautifully decorated with a delicate hand-painted floral spray featuring Lily of the Valley, surrounded by colourful flowers and foliage. The piece is framed by a rich cobalt blue border, profusely decorated with fine gilt floral and foliate motifs, with additional gilding to the rim and foot.

The combination of the deep cobalt ground, intricate gilding and vibrant hand-painted botanical decoration gives this piece an elegant and highly decorative appearance, characteristic of late 19th-century Wedgwood ornamental wares.

Condition:
Good antique condition. Free from crazing, cracks, breaks, or restoration. There is some wear to the gilded decoration on the cobalt blue border, consistent with age and use. The foot ring has three shallow chips, which appear to have occurred during the manufacturing process and do not affect the stability or presentation of the piece.
