Neoclassical Style Column - 1930-1940 - Floral Alabaster

Beautiful and important alabaster flowering column/pedestal, often commercially and historically identified as 'Breccia di Sciro', with warm colorations ranging from creamy white to ochre yellow with a dense network of dark, brown, gray and greenish veins, which create a strong visual contrast and a typical 'flowered' or mottled effect. Compared to traditional marble, alabaster has a slight characteristic translucency to light, which gives it depth. The column's structure consists of a cylindrical shaft segmented by annular reliefs. The upper resting surface is square with rounded corners, while the lower base rests on a solid octagonal structure.
