Studio Pottery - Vase - Baluster vase with 3 loop handles - Stoneware - Dark Tenmoku glaze

Beautiful and skilfully hand-thrown modernist European studio pottery vase, dating from the second half of the 20th century (presumably 1960s–1980s).

The vase is executed in a robust style with a deep, mirrored dark brown to black glaze that shows strong influences of the classical Asian Song Dynasty and the iconic Tenmoku glazes. The neck features three characteristic, hand-formed loop handles.

In terms of aesthetics, design, and glazing technique, this vase aligns very closely with the tradition of the influential British potter Bernard Leach and the prominent French-Belgian modernist masters, such as Antoine de Vinck and the ceramists surrounding the renowned French pottery region of La Borne.

The object demonstrates an exceptionally high level of technical mastery and refinement.

Signature / Mark: On the underside, there is an elegantly hand-incised signature in the wet clay.

Condition: In very good condition without any chips or restorations.
