Antieke auto motorolie zeef - Working tool

A rare sieve for cleaning engine oil.
This sieve was used to remove coarse dirt and metal particles from the oil.
This continued until about 1930.
Early vintage cars did not have a modern oil filter.
Dirt, rust and small metal particles that formed while driving would keep floating in the oil as it aged.
Because oil was expensive and scarce, they tried to save used oil by pouring it through a fine sieve and re-cleaning it for reuse.
You don't see this sieve very often.
It is a sturdy, handmade solid-copper model.
