Description from the seller
Rare Antique English Bone China Tea Service by Blair’s – Circa 1930–1940
An elegant and highly decorative English bone china tea service by Blair’s, dating from circa 1930–1940. Its exceptionally fine, lightweight porcelain, delicate cherry blossom decoration inspired by East Asian artistry, and richly patterned cup interiors make it a distinctive example of traditional English tea ware.
The service features beautifully detailed floral motifs complemented by original gold gilding. The gilding retains much of its brilliance, with no noticeable rubbing or fading, while the glossy surfaces remain remarkably well preserved, with no noticeable stacking scratches or abrasion marks.
Set Includes
- 1 Lidded Teapot
- 1 Sugar Bowl
- 9 Cups
- 10 Saucers
Condition
The service is in very good antique condition, with no chips, impact damage, broken pieces, or repairs.
For full transparency, the teapot has one fine hairline crack, the sugar bowl has a very short hairline crack, and three saucers show fine hairline cracks visible upon close inspection.
Some cups have unmarked bases, while others bear factory backstamps in different colours. One cup also has a small unglazed area beneath the handle, consistent with a manufacturing variation.
A charming and increasingly collectible English tea service, combining fine, delicate bone china, intricate floral decoration, elegant gold detailing, and timeless vintage appeal. An attractive addition to a collection of English porcelain.
