Huge Quiche funeral urn fragment TL test & Spanish export license, a fragmentary terracotta funerary urn from the K'iche' Maya tradition (Guatemalan Highlands), 50 cm high by 42 cm wide by 20 cm deep, with a frontally rendered supernatural zoomorphic figure in high relief, authenticated with an official certificate and Spanish export license.
Description from the seller
Important fragment of a terracotta funerary urn, belonging to the K'iche' Maya tradition of the Guatemalan Highlands. It features a zoomorphic being of supernatural character, depicted frontally in high relief with large circular eyes, prominent ears, a wide snout, an open mouth with teeth, and prominent fangs. The limbs, arranged symmetrically, end in clearly defined claws.
The vigorous execution and the pronounced volume of the face give the piece a remarkable sculptural presence. The surface retains reddish, ochre, and brown tones, with deposits and abrasions characteristic of its age. The irregular edges indicate its fragmentary nature.
Condition: Fragmentary, with wear, losses, and surface deposits. Later display support.
Acquired from a Spanish private collection, Eudald Serra in the 1965.
-The piece includes an authenticity certificate as well as TL test and Spanish export license (Passport for European Union).
IMPORTANT: Due to the new laws on the export of archaeological pieces, we have decided to NO LONGER sell outside the European territory for the following countries: SWITZERLAND & UNITED STATES of AMERICA.
For other destinations out of European territory: all our items will be shipped after obtaining a definitive LICENSE EXPORTATION by the Ministry of Culture of Spain. We inform our clients that it may take between

Please note that for far destination (Asia, middle east etc.. ), there will be an additional cost for the shipping.
