AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

SFBJ / UNIS France 149 – Old 61 cm Doll – Biscuit Head Mold 301 – Jumeau Head Stamp

Description

Very beautiful and large ancient French doll SFBJ / UNIS France, about 61 cm tall, with biscuit head and articulated body.

The head bears the various markings allowing its identification: UNIS FRANCE 149, 301 with triangle, as well as the red stamp “Tête Jumeau” visible on the back of the head.

The number 301 corresponds to the head mold, while the UNIS France 149 marking is associated with the production of SFBJ (Société Française de Fabrication de Bébés et Jouets), the heir in particular of the Jumeau house. This type of doll belongs to the French production of the early 20th century, likely around the 1920s-1930s.

The doll has a very pretty face with rosy cheeks, painted eyebrows and lashes, an open mouth showing the teeth, and large sleeping eyes. Their mechanism is present and functions perfectly.

The biscuit head is in excellent condition: no cracks or chips observed. The internal mechanism of the eyes is also visible in the photographs.

The old articulated body naturally shows signs of use and wear due to its age: rubs, marks, cracks and old repairs visible in places. Two fingertip ends of the right hand are broken, as precisely shown in the photographs.

The doll is accompanied by its brown curly wig, a pretty blue dress with a large collar and floral ornament, antique underwear, crocheted socks and a pair of shoes. I cannot, however, guarantee that the clothes, wig and shoes are original.

Height: about 61 cm.

A beautiful French collectible doll, particularly expressive, preserving its marked biscuit head, its Jumeau Head stamp and its functioning sleeping-eye mechanism.

The overall condition and the various signs of time are intentionally presented in detail in the photographs. The photos are an integral part of the description.
