Up for auction: a prestigious, iconic and fascinating medium-format twin-lens reflex (TLR) camera: the Rolleiflex 3.5 T, produced in Germany by Franke & Heidecke in Braunschweig between 1958 and 1961.
The lot presents in good overall vintage condition, with normal signs of use and storage consistent with its age and history.
Optics: The optical assembly consists of two high-quality lenses with a 75mm focal length: on top is the original extra-bright viewing lens Heidosmat 1:2.8 / 75, while below it is equipped with the renowned and very sharp taking lens Carl Zeiss Tessar 1:3.5 f=75mm. The lenses appear in good overall visual condition, clean and free of scratches or traces of internal molds or fungi. The identifying inscriptions and factory marks on the front are sharp and perfectly legible.
Mechanics: The lot has been tested and is mechanically functioning. The high-performance mechanical central shutter Synchro-Compur responds to controls and fires regularly at the various adjustable speeds. The side-mounted articulated winding crank for rapid shutter cocking and film advancement operates correctly.
