Titolo della serie: The Built in Mind.

Designer : Francesco Di Dio
Concept
The Built in Mind is a series of illustrations by architect Francesco Di Dio, known as Effe, for Kiasmo, exploring architecture as a metaphor for the mind. In these works space does not obey the laws of physics or the codes of traditional design: staircases that lead to nothing, inaccessible entrances, suspended and drifting volumes, unsustainable proportions. They are structures that do not aspire to be built in the real world, but exist exclusively in the fluid territory of thought.
The mind is the invisible architect here. Each image is born as an inner project: a place generated by intuition, memory, desire, and perception. Like an architect, the mind designs spaces, opens passages, erects walls, and invents perspectives through which we interpret the world. But unlike real architecture, these constructions do not have to follow rules, proportions, or functional logics: they can be free, dreamlike, and contradictory.
The series reflects on how our thoughts shape our inner reality, our “mental house.” Often we inhabit invisible structures made of beliefs, habits, and interpretations inherited from our culture and environment.
Through Effe’s illustrations, The Built in Mind suggests the possibility of becoming architects of one’s own perception. The imagined architectures then become exercises in freedom: places where thought can experiment, deconstruct patterns, and reconstruct new inner landscapes; every work is at once building and mental process: a construction that reveals how the reality we inhabit is, above all, a project of the mind.
Tile 20 x 20 cm with matte passe-partout and black enamelled wood frame, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Kiasmo.
