Pair of antique wooden candlesticks from 1850–1900, finely carved in wood with XIX‑century gold leaf, electrified and working, with the back intentionally without gold leaf, made in Italy; height 30 cm, width 25 cm, depth 7 cm.
Description from the seller
In this auction, a beautiful pair of palm stands dating to the second half of the 19th century, entirely in antique wood finely worked with gold leaf. They were palm holders transformed over the years into electrified, functioning candelabras. We recommend a beige lampshade, or displaying them as is, as conceived in antiquity. The back side is devoid of gold leaf, as was common in the past due to the high cost of the material; over the years this part has never been restored, a sign of authenticity. The electrified part has, however, undergone gluing and small restorations.
