Petrified wood flame from Madagascar, a fossil wood sculpture weighing 25 kg with origin Madagascar.
AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
This exceptional petrified wooden flame from Madagascar combines the prehistoric power of nature with a modern, almost artistic form. With an imposing weight of 25 kilograms, this piece presents itself as a majestic art object that immediately draws attention both through its size and its intense coloration.
The warm, earthy tones—from deep red to amber accents plus golden and caramel layers—tell the million-year-old story of the tree that once lived. Through the fossilization process, the original wood structures were gradually replaced by minerals, resulting in a fascinating interpretation of the original material: hard as stone, yet alive in its grain like wood.
The artistically polished flame form emphasizes the natural color transitions and makes the piece appear in an intense, almost glowing light. Each curve and each polished surface reveals new details that resemble currents in an eternal fire. This makes the fossil appear dynamic and powerful, while still emanating the calm and resilience of petrified wood.
This exceptional object is ideal as a striking decorative piece in generous spaces, as a highlight of a high-quality collection, or as an exclusive statement piece in galleries and showrooms. The combination of natural beauty, impressive presence, and geological history makes this petrified wood flame a work of art that has no equal.
A timeless monument of nature — powerful, rare, and of impressive elegance.
Petrified Wood Flame from Madagascar
Weight: 25181.76 g
Size: 320x370x260 mm
Treatment: None
Origin: Madagascar
It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks.
Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon.
And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
