Description from the seller
Antique wooden hoist pulley or tackle block, Netherlands, 18th century
Beautiful authentic wooden hoist pulley from the 18th century, originating from a museum collection. The sturdy tackle block is made of solid wood and fitted with the original wrought-iron fittings.
This pulley comes from an old "botter" — a traditional Dutch wooden fishing vessel with a flat bottom that was intensively used for fisheries on the Zuiderzee from the late 18th to the early 19th century.
Due to its lovely patina, visible wear, and artisanal construction, this piece is not only a remarkable historical tool but also a stunning decorative collectible with a lot of character!
