A very rare signed hardback copy of F:OTOTK 1 by Colombian artist and photographer Adriana Duque published by La Silueta Ediciones : Consejería Cultural de España in 2008. The book contains a range of captivating images around storytelling, myth, childhood and much more and contains 139 pages as well as text in Spanish and English. Breathing new life into art historical traditions, blurring the lines between painting and photography, and capturing the innocence of children, are thriving trends in contemporary art; in the portraiture of Adriana Duque, we find all three, synthesized seamlessly in tableaux fit for fairytales. Perhaps best described as cinematic or theatrical, Duque’s photographs feature stoic little girls—think Princess Margarita in Velázquez’s iconic Las Meninas—ensconced in lush environments. The resulting delusions of grandeur function as commentaries on her native Colombia and its colonial history, as well as utopian ideals and social and cultural stereotypes.

Adriana Duque was born in Manizales, Colombia in 1968. In that city she completed her undergraduate studies in Fine Arts at the University of Caldas. In 2001 Adriana was awarded a scholarship by both the Colombian government and the French embassies, which enabled her to study digital photography in Barcelona (Spain) and travel throughout several cities in France where she had the opportunity to visit some of the most important collections of classic painting as well as attend the International Photography Festival of Arles in the south of France.

F:OTOTK is a collection of monographic books that analyzes from an historic context the artwork of Colombian photographers covering art, fashion, photojournalism, architecture, advertising, ethnography and visual anthropology. This issue examines the richness and contemporariness of the visual narrative masterly managed by Duque (b. Colombia 1968) presenting a representative selection of digital images where "ideas are authentic and images, fiction". Her photographic "pictures" are a constant confrontation between high Western culture and its myths and the spatial and social dystopia of Colombia.
