AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful very large (115/145/290mm) shell of Triplofusus giganteus, previously known as Pleuroploca gigantea, the common name Florida conch, is an extremely large subtropical and tropical predatory marine snail, a mollusk of the Fasciolariidae family, a spindle-shaped snail, a tulip snail and their relatives. The outline of the shell is somewhat spindle-shaped, with a long siphonal canal and up to 10 whorls. Its sculpture features several spiral cords and axial ribs, some of which may form tubercles on the shoulders of the whorls. The shell color is light orange in very young specimens. In adulthood the shell often becomes gray-white to salmon-orange. The shell has a small notch on the siphon, which is visible in the photos. I highly recommend it to collectors and interior decorators.
